Liquibase

Case Study / Enterprise Technology

How Liquibase turned a year of behind-the-scenes work into a video that deepened one of its biggest enterprise accounts.

Liquibase's team had spent a year quietly powering a major financial services client's database DevOps transformation, but that work was getting lost in emails and status updates. We built a cinematic account-update film, with every department speaking in its own words, real footage, and motion graphics, to show the client exactly what a year of partnership looked like.

The Hook
A New Bar of Internal Excellence

A year of great work was getting lost in email threads and status decks.

For any technology company managing a major enterprise account, the hardest part usually isn’t doing the work. It’s proving it.
Liquibase’s team had spent the better part of a year deep in the account for one of its biggest clients, a major financial services company, building integrations, automating governance, and quietly making the client’s database operations faster and safer. But all of that effort lived in emails, status updates, and technical documentation. It was nearly impossible to communicate, in a way that felt exciting or even accessible, everything the team had actually accomplished. Liquibase needed a way to show the client the full picture, not just report it.
The Client
About Liquibase

The database DevOps platform trusted by regulated enterprises.

Liquibase is an Austin-based technology company and the platform behind database DevOps, automating, tracking, and governing database schema changes across environments so enterprise teams can deploy faster without sacrificing safety or compliance. Built on deep open-source roots, Liquibase’s software has been downloaded tens of millions of times and is trusted by enterprises in regulated industries like financial services and insurance.

This project centers on Liquibase’s relationship with one of its largest financial services accounts, an enterprise client relying on Liquibase to govern database change across hundreds of systems.

The Challenge
More Than an Email Update

A year of complex, valuable work with no way to make it feel exciting.

Liquibase’s team had accomplished a huge amount for this account over the previous year. Explaining any of it well was its own challenge.
01
The Complexity Gap
The work spanned deep technical integrations, governance frameworks, and automation, hard to explain in an email, harder to make feel exciting.
02
Invisible Effort
Much of the team’s best work happened behind the scenes, in systems the client would never see directly.
03
High Stakes, Low Visibility
This was one of Liquibase’s largest enterprise accounts, and its long-term value depended on the client feeling the full weight of the partnership, not just reading about it.
04
The Stakes
If the client never truly saw the scope of what Liquibase’s team had delivered, a massive enterprise relationship risked being undervalued.
The Strategy
Every Department, One Story

A relationship film built to show the work, not just report it.

Liquibase brought Mosaic in to build something closer to an internal showcase than a typical marketing video, a way to bring a year of account work to life for one audience.

Storyboard the Whole Year

We mapped out everything the team had delivered over the course of the account before writing a single line of script.

Let Every Department Speak

We scripted each department’s contribution separately, so the client heard directly from the people behind the work, not just one spokesperson.

Built for One Audience, Not the Masses

This wasn’t designed for broad distribution. It was built as a focused, high-touch update for one enterprise client and one relationship.

Show the Technical Work Visually

We planned graphics, animation, and real footage to make complex technical work, integrations, automation, governance, feel tangible and easy to follow.
Production
A Series of Voices, One Team

Teleprompter-led segments from across the account team.

To capture a year of work fairly, we needed more than one person on camera.

STEP 01 / THE SCRIPT

Written Department by Department

We scripted talking points for each department involved in the account, so every team’s contribution was represented in its own words.
STEP 02 / THE SHOOT

A Series of Teleprompter-Led Segments

We filmed a series of talking-head, teleprompter-led clips with team members across the account, including Ryan Campbell as the lead voice presenting the piece.
STEP 03 / REAL FOOTAGE

Grounded in the Actual Work

We combined the interviews with real footage from the account to keep the piece grounded in what had actually been delivered, not just a script.
Post Production
Making the Technical Feel Tangible

Graphics and animation for work that's hard to see.

We added motion graphics and on-screen text to walk through technical concepts, how database changes move from request to deployment, how governance and automation work together, so a non-technical viewer could follow along without ever feeling lost.

We cut the piece together from every department’s segment into one cohesive story, pairing the real work with a polished, professional finish so it felt less like an update and more like a highlight reel of a year well spent.

The Results

A client that felt the difference.

This project was never built to drive volume. It was built to strengthen one relationship, and it did.
BLOWN AWAY

Client Reaction

Liquibase reported the client was completely blown away by the level of work and care that went into the video.
DEEPENED

Enterprise Relationship

The video helped strengthen and solidify one of Liquibase’s largest enterprise accounts.
EVERY DEPT

Represented On Screen

Every department involved in the account had its work shown and spoken to directly, in its own words.
QUALITATIVE

Built for Trust, Not Traffic

Because this was a relationship tool, not a lead-gen asset, the win was measured in trust and account strength, not clicks or conversions.
From the Film / Account Narrative

Takeaways
Why It Worked

This worked because it treated an existing client like a prospect worth impressing.

Retention deserves the same creative energy as acquisition.
01 / RETENTION

Sell the Relationship, Not Just the Deal

The biggest accounts are worth as much creative investment as a new client pitch.
02 / VISIBILITY

Make Invisible Work Visible

Technical, behind-the-scenes work needs to be translated into something a client can see and feel, not just read.
03 / MANY VOICES

Let the Whole Team Take Credit

Featuring every department, not just leadership, gave the client a fuller, more honest picture of who was actually doing the work.
04 / FOCUSED SCOPE

Not Every Video Needs to Go Wide

A single, high-touch video built for one audience can be worth more than a broadly distributed campaign.
