Getting the correct Video Size on your website

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you’ve embedded a video on your website, there’s a good chance that the default size may not fit perfectly on your site.  If you change the width or the height of your video in the code or in website editor you could end up with black bars on the top and bottom.

You might be thinking: Oh no!! How do I get the correct video size for my site?

Let’s take a quick look at an example, troubleshoot it and use a tool to help us along the way. We’re going to look at a video on my site where I show an example of a business promo video. As you can see it looks good, however, there is a large gap between the video and the text. So, first I’m going to edit the page and take a look at our size options. When I edit the video I can see the width is 560 pixels. Most WordPress themes like this have a drop-down menu with predefined sizes, so I’m just going to select the next size up and choose 640 by 360. Now we can see that the video player goes from edge to edge and looks much better.

Alternatively, if you do not have this feature on your website you can manually edit the embed code width and height. To ensure that everything is proportionally correct simply go to aspect ratio calculator dot com. Here, you can type in the width you want and it will automatically tell you how high the video should be in order to maintain that widescreen 16 by 9 look.
